La Baule:
A day in the country

This weekend, Les Republicains Summer Campus in La Baule gathered some 1500 supporters and right-wing sympathisers, who came to meet nine of the thirteen candidates at the primaries attending the event.

Festive atmosphere, unity as a watchword…despite everything, the gathering has been the theatre of rivalries between the candidates, on the eve of the primaries.

« NouS les jeunes » (Nicolas Sarkozy), « Le Renouveau c’est Bruno » (Bruno Lemaire), « Je vote Fillon » (François Fillon), « AJ ! 2017 » (Alain Juppé), … The supporters showed their support to their favourite candidate on the numerous t-shirts, flags and banners that were to be seen this weekend.

Nicolas Sarkozy, who signed his book « Tout pour la France » and whose speech ended this 44th Summer Campus, portrayed himself as the rallying candidate. His ambition to transcend party boundaries has convinced a part of the right-wing supporters, who came in numbers to La Baule under the banner of the ex-President.
